Our Story: A Small Tug That Became a Calling

HEMAMA didn’t begin with a grand plan or a large organization. It began with a single moment of compassion — a quiet tug on the heart to help someone who simply needed a little support to keep going.

One child. One family. One genuine human need.

That first step — small, simple, and sincere — opened a door. As we responded to that need, more needs appeared. More stories surfaced. More lives brushed against ours. And with each encounter, it became clear that God was inviting us to keep saying “yes” to the people He placed in front of us.

HEMAMA grew from that humble beginning. Not through strategy or scale, but through faithfulness to the next person who needed a hand up.

Today, the fruit of that first tug is visible in lives like Linda’s — a student who wrote:

Global Partnership

At HEMAMA, our work in Kima is strengthened by a partnership rooted in shared purpose and compassion. While HEMAMA Children’s Resource Centre serves families, children, and widows on the ground in Kenya, Friends of HEMAMA — a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit — walks alongside us as our U.S. fiscal sponsor.

Friends of HEMAMA provides the administrative support, stewardship, and tax‑deductible giving pathways that make it possible for our programs to grow and thrive. Together, we honor the God‑given dignity and potential of every person we serve, building a bridge of hope between communities in Kenya and supporters around the world.
